LAS VEGAS – The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for most of Clark County starting at 11 this morning and running until 8 this evening.
Up until a few years ago Excessive Heat Warnings had never been issued. But working with the Clark County Coroner’s office, the Las Vegas office of the National Weather Service rewrote the guidelines for warnings in an effort to warn the public about the health dangers when the first big heat wave of the year settles in. Extreme heat is one of the leading killers in southern nevada.
The forecast high for today is 108. the record high for today is 109 from this date in 2016.
The high temps will back off a few degrees as we get through the week, with periods of high cloudiness and breezes. Overnight lows will be between 75 and 80.
