Project Neon is getting shifty.
We work hard to keep you up-to-date on the nearly 1-billion dollar upgrade to the busiest freeway stretch in Nevada: I-15 between Sahara and the Spaghetti Bowl, especially when there are complete freeway closures (another one Wednesday night into Thursday on the 95 at the 15).
We also want to fill you in on changes that may catch creatures of habit by surprise. Starting at 6 Wednesday morning, the northbound 15 lanes of the 15 at Charleston shifted to new pavement. These lanes are to the right of where the north 15 had been passing Charleston. If Charleston’s your normal exit, you’ll want to pay extra attention: a temporary exit lane will start – – just after Sahara. Also: NDOT tells us the exit from the north 15 to *west*-bound Charleston will be a little different starting Saturday. Finally: the *south*-bound lanes at Charleston will also be shifting – – but not until a week from today.
Whether you’re keeping score or not, Project Neon is now 81% complete and on track for what they describe as “substantial” completion in the summer of next year.
Buckle up, drive carefully – and put down that phone!
