Are we having a blast yet?
For drivers going either direction between Pahrump and Las Vegas, the Nevada Dept of Transportation is getting back at the highway 160 widening project around the town of Mountain Springs. And that means a closure of the highway in both directions at 12:45 this afternoon. Blasting crews are making room along that hilly area for what will eventually be two more lanes of traffic. As with all previous blasts NDOT *may* allow traffic to move through again before 2:45pm, but they always say the closures can last up to 2 hours.
In addition to social media NDOT also posts blasting updates on the very top of their website – www.nevadadot.com. For now, they’ve also got a couple of traffic related notes for Lincoln County drivers. Flooding has affected state route 322 around Spring Valley State Park as well as state route 317, otherwise known as Rainbow Canyon road in Caliente.
Buckle up, drive carefully and put down that phone!
