Streets that feel like you’re driving on the moon – without the lighter gravity!
Two of the most frequently complained about north-south streets in town are *finally* scheduled for repaving: Maryland Pkwy between Twain and Russell Rd. and Eastern between Flamingo and Desert Inn. One of the more colorful emails on that top comes from viewer Roger, who writes:
“As you drive down this stretch of Eastern, you’re waiting for your front end to fall off of your car or your transmission to fall out of your car.” Roger goes on to say he avoids Eastern when he’s riding his motorcycle.
Good news and maybe not so good from Clark County on this, Roger. Spokesman Dan Kulin says Eastern *is* on track for repaving, but you’ll need to hang on for another couple of weeks. He says that starting April 15, “there will be periodic lane shifts and lane closures on Eastern between Flamingo and Desert Inn through August.”
As for Maryland Pkwy: Kulin says there will be a few days’ work starting today for the short stretch between Flamingo and Cottage Grove near the UNLV campus. Then, he says, there will be work on Cottage Grove west of Maryland Pkwy, until the end of May. On the bigger Maryland Pkwy picture you should be prepared for lane shifts and possible closures between Russell Road and Twain starting April 8 and also running through August.
Buckle up, drive carefully and put down that phone!
