Even more disruptions on the main road between Pahrump and Las Vegas
We hope you’ve found our ongoing updates on closures to highway 160 helpful as NDOT crews conduct roadside blasting between Mt Potosi and the town of Mountain Springs as part of the ongoing highway widening project there.
Now there are extra slowdowns for the folks heading to or from Las Vegas and Pahrump. NDOT’s Tony Illia says the bulk of new roadwork for now will be on the eastbound side from east of Pahrump near the Clark / Nye county border up towards Mountain Springs. To accomodate that work, though, traffic in *both* directions is down to one lane with the speed limit reduced to 55mph, so expect delays, especially during morning and afternoon commute times. NDOT also wants you to know that a temporary traffic signal will be in use at the Tecopa Road turn off between Pahrump and Mountain Springs.
As for the blasting that completely closes the 160 around Mt Springs, we’re told that’s an ongoing part of the project, but we don’t know the next blasting date. We’ll keep you posted.
Buckle up, drive carefully – – and put down that phone!
