HENDERSON, Nev. (KLAS) — Lifeguard Arena, the practice home of the Henderson Silver Knights, opened its doors to the Henderson community on Tuesday.

The brand-new facility will also serve as a community center for Henderson residents.

The Silver Knights head coach Manny Viveiros and HSK players, including Oscar Dansk and Logan Thompson, were there to celebrate the opening.

“This facility gives you the best opportunity to come here and kind of do your day-to-day work… everything’s here for the guys and I think they’ll really enjoy it,” Golden Knights defenseman Zach Whitecloud told 8 Sports Now.

“It’s a first-class facility, in Vegas fashion,” Silver Knights goaltender Oscar Dansk said.

Lifeguard Arena in Henderson is similar to the Golden Knights practice arena in Summerlin.

Like City National Arena, it features two sheets of ice, retail space, meeting space, and team space for the Henderson Silver Knights. A full service restaurant and a coffee shop will both open at a later date, according to the organization.

The Henderson Silver Knights retail shop at Lifeguard Arena, The Livery, opened at 10 a.m. to a line of fans waiting to get their hands on the new jerseys. Players told 8 Sports Now they are excited to represent the organization and wear the mix of silver and gold.

“I love it. It’s similar to the Golden Knights, which is cool but has our own little twist on it. With the Golden Knights patch on the shoulder, it’s motivation that that’s where we want to be one day,” Silver Knights player Logan Thompson said.

The facility includes a locker room, gym, video room and training room for the players.

“It’s amazing, we have more than what we need here,” Thompson said. “For them to put this much into this facility, it shows that they care a lot for our development and that’s very exciting.”

“Seeing how the Vegas Golden Knights blew up and how much we’re getting attention, it’s very encouraging,” Thompson said about the opportunity of playing for the Henderson community. “I’m excited to get after it and have all the fans there for our support, whenever that will be.”
