A massive wild horse roundup in northern Nevada was even more deadly than initially reported by the Bureau of Land Management.
The agency rounded up more than 1,800 horses from what is known as the Owyhee Complex in Nov. 2016. The area is located near the Humboldt mountains.
The BLM reported that 18 wild horses died during the roundup.
The captured horses were taken to the Palomino Valley holding facility in Sparks. Records obtained by the American Wild Horse Campaign show that another 30 horses died or were euthanized while at the facility.
That brings the total number of wild mustangs killed during the roundup to at least 48.
