As Project Neon’s ‘Main Event’ continues, so will the traffic nightmares. And if you thought this week was bad — just wait. Things are going to get worse.
On Friday night, a portion of U.S. 95 will close, and for drivers who aren’t prepared, it’s bound to cause some major problems. Drivers won’t even be able to get onto a portion of the 95 until Monday morning.
The Nevada Department of Transportation says the 95 both north and southbound will be closed between Martin Luther King and Las Vegas boulevards from 10 p.m. Friday night until at least 5 a.m. Monday morning.
In addition to that, both MLK and Las Vegas Boulevard would be closed to traffic at the 95 a little bit longer from 9 p.m. Friday night until 6 a.m. Monday morning.
The reason for the closure is for the demolition of southbound I-15 bridges at the Spaghetti Bowl interchange.
Drivers traveling northbound on U.S. 95 will want to detour by taking Bonanza Road. Southbound drivers should detour by turning left onto Bonneville from MLK, then make a right onto Grand Central Parkway which will place drivers back onto the highway.
