***UPDATE*** Police have arrested a suspect in connection to a homicide on Fremont street last weekend. Detectives arrested 27-year-old James Beach Sunday, May 7th, he faces one count of open murder.
A visitor came to Las Vegas to celebrate his brother’s upcoming wedding, but he never made it home.
It started as a bachelor party and ended in murder early Sunday morning in Downtown Las Vegas. Metro Police are searching for two men suspected of killing a father of five from California.
“We were just walking Fremont Street, having a few drinks,” victim’s brother Drake Garibay said. “I held my brother’s head up in my hand, like his limp head, I just held it in my hand…and he just wasn’t waking up.”
A weekend celebration downtown quickly turned into a nightmare.
“These last five days I’ve lost six pounds,” victim’s mother Joyce Garibay said. “How do you say goodbye to a child? I don’t care how old he is he was still my baby because somebody murdered him.”
Luis Campos died Thursday three days after someone punched him in the face outside of the vanguard lounge.
Campos was standing outside, waiting to get into the club, with his brother Drake, when he was approached by at least two men.
In the surveillance footage released by metro police, the suspects are seen running east on Fremont and then turning North on 6th Street. Both of the men are in their 20s, one was seen wearing a white cap, dark shirt and white pants. The other a dark shirt and tan pants.
After the men left the scene, Campos was rushed to the hospital.
“We had to jump in the car and head to Vegas. It was the longest 6 hour ride I had in my entire life,” Joyce Garibay said. “They’re one and two years old. They will never know their dad. The other three are teenagers and they’re in there having to say goodbye to him.”
As police search for the two suspects, Luis Campos’ brothers wedding has been postponed, Louis was the best man.
