An altercation led to a deadly shooting near the Las Vegas Strip, police said.
The incident happened in the parking lot of the Fun City Motel located near Sahara Boulevard and Las Vegas Boulevard around 12:45 p.m. on Thursday.
The suspected shooter was an armed security guard who was at the motel for his lunch break, according to detectives with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The security guard confronted the victim and after a brief altercation, pulled out his gun and shot the victim once, police said.
The security guard then holstered his weapon. He and an employee from a nearby business and rendered aid to the victim. The suspected shooter also called 911, police added.
Medical responders rushed the victim to the hospital where he died.
Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the altercation.
Police arrested the security guard, but charges are pending as homicide detectives figure out if the shooting was in self-defense.
Initially, 8 News NOW reported the shooting happened at a nearby dispensary which was not the case.
