One man is dead after being shot by a clerk inside a 7-Eleven on the east side of Las Vegas.
Police have released photos and identified the two men with him as Eric and Richard Ball.
Metro detectives said the incident started late Sunday night as a confrontation between the three men and two store employees inside the store on E. Vegas View Dr., east of Boulder Station.
Investigators said the three men left the store and returned about 45 minutes later. A fight resumed, and that is when a clerk shot and killed a man.
Metro Homicide detective, Lt. Dan McGrath said two knives were found on scene, one by the front door and another outside the building.
“Video is going to be the main evidence in this for investigators,” said McGrath, who could not say whether the clerk will face any charges.
McGrath said it is unclear if this was an attempted robbery.
Eric and Richard Ball, who were with the deceased, were arrested. One of those individuals had outstanding warrants.
The store employee who police say fired the shots was not arrested, but is cooperating with police. McGrath said it would be up to the district attorney to determine if he will face charges.
McGrath said it is not uncommon for convenience store clerks in some Las Vegas neighborhoods to carry firearms.
“This is a challenging area. It has been for my 25 years here,” said McGrath. “I wouldn’t say it’s ‘high crime,’ but criminal activity has been known to be around here.”
