Two unrelated shootings leave 2 dead

Metro Police are investigating two unrelated shootings Thursday night that left two people dead.

Police tell 8 News NOW both shootings happened at approximately 8 p.m.

The first shooting occurred in a residential neighborhood on North Circle, near Paradise Road and Twain Avenue. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots in the area. When officers arrived, they discovered a man with multiple gunshot wounds.

He was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.

No suspect/s have been arrested.

The second shooting occurred near the West Las Vegas Library near Lake Mead Boulevard and H Street.

Metro says officers responded to a report of a shot fired in the area. When police arrived, they found a Black male in his late teens or early 20’s with a gunshot wound. He was taken to University Medical Center and died a short time later.

The Clark County Coroners Office identified the victim as 19-year-old Javante Stockard with the cause of death being a gunshot wound to the chest. 

Police determined that shooting was accidental and took place inside a car. Investigators say the Clark County District Attorney will consider charges..
