Two teens killed in Sunday crash identified

The two teens killed in a crash early Sunday morning have been identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office as 19-year-old Amya Chanel Johnson-Myers and 18-year-old Alexa Nicola Arana both of Las Vegas.

The two died in a crash that occurred around 1:45 a.m. at Desert Inn Road and Polaris Avenue. Two other teens were critically injured. The crash involved two cars filled with young people.

A 2017 Nissan Versa was traveling in a far left lane of Desert Inn and attempted to make a right turn on Polaris when it collided with a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria and then hit a pole, according to a report by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Johnson-Myers and Arana and the two that were injured were among six people in the Nissan who ranged in age from 17 to 20, the report stated.

Eight people were in the Ford ranging in age from 17 to 20. No one in the Ford was injured in the crash, according to investigators.

Both drivers involved did not show any signs of impairment, police said.

This marks the 62nd and 63rd traffic-related fatalities for LVMPD of 2018. The coroner will release the identities of the deceased once next of kin is notified.
