The twin sisters injured in Sunday’s attack at the Route 91 Harvest festival are making an incredible recovery.

While it may be some time until their fully healed, the Baca’s were able to make it to their senior homecoming just five days after they were shot. 

There was a special spot saved Friday night for Gianna Baca, a co-captain for the cheer squad at Faith Lutheran, and her twin sister Natalia Baca. 

It was an event the Baca sisters would not miss.

“I haven’t seen a big crowd in like a week, so it was very overwhelming,” said Natalia Baca, shooting victim.  

Their classmates wore t-shirts honoring the sisters which read “Faith Strong” and “Pray for Vegas.”

“I just wanted to show my team and my faith family that we’re stronger than we actually think we are,” Gianna Baca, shooting victim.

The Bacas are two of many survivors who are thankful to be alive. They said their faith was untouched and their hope was renewed. 

Gianna and Natalia were both shot Sunday night. A bullet punctured Natalia’s lung. She was released from the hospital hours before homecoming.

“I really love these girls and this school is family to me so I didn’t want to miss it even though I’m very tired and hurting, but made it out,” Natalia said.

Faith Lutheran graduate Tyler Tracy was also injured in the attack. His father stood by to show his support. 

“We teach our kids to step in, to take charge, to take advantage of opportunities and protect those around us and he stepped up like any good man would,” said Jeff Tracy, victim’s father

Tyler was shot while trying to protect his girlfriend.

“As a father, the pride just pours when you meet somebody like him and get to know him. He knows how I feel I’ve told him many times and this is again indicative of that,” said Tracy.

The Faith Lutheran spirit is strong indeed. Their love for each other shined through proving there’s more good in this world than evil. 

“I feel like it just grew us together,” Gianna said.

Tyler is still in critical condition. He took his first steps on Wednesday.

The Baca sisters say they plan to go to the homecoming dance Sunday night.
