The Southern Nevada Bicycle Coalition says there’s been a recent increase in bicyclist deaths in our valley, which is obviously alarming for the cyclist community.
Keely Brooks started the Southern Nevada Bicycle Coalition to put an end to the deaths. But recently, there’s been increase. In 2017, 7 cyclists were killed in Clark County making it the third most dangerous place in the country for cyclists.
So what’s the solution? There’s already a law in Nevada that requires drivers to give cyclists at least 3 feet of space or move into left lanes. The Bicycle Coalition is pushing that law with an initiative, more space keep it safe. They are also reminding cyclists to stay visible by wearing reflective gear, helmets, and lights. And one last thing, asking drivers to please pay attention.
The Southern Nevada Bicycle Coalition says it’s working with the city and the county to make roads safer and friendlier for cyclists.
