The two teens charged as adults in the murder of 17-year-old Matthew Minkler appeared for their preliminary hearing in Henderson Justice Court Monday morning.
Kody Harlen, 17, and Jaiden Caruso, 16, are accused in the shooting death of Minkler in an abandoned Henderson house on June 8.
The judge postponed the preliminary hearing until July 12. Defense attorney William Terry, who represents, Caruso, told the judge he received discovery late and needed more time. The state and other defense attorney said they were ready to present their cases.
According to the arrest report, no one called 911 after Minkler was shot in the face. Harlen and Caruso cleaned up the scene and hid Minkler’s body in a closed.
People showed up at the court wearing tee-shirts with “Justice for Matthew” printed on the them.
A third teen has also been arrested in connection with the case.
