Suspect in Saturday’s homicide identified as correctional officer


Police have identified the suspect in Saturday’s homicide which left a mother dead.

The suspect is 41-year-old Christopher Gerard Caggiano, a state correctional officer, said Lt. Ray Spence, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

BACKGROUND: Mother killed, children discovered body

Officers responded to the homicide at home on the 4600 block of Dealers Choice Way around 9:00 a.m. where they found a woman dead with a gunshot wound in a pool of blood, according to a report released by LVMPD on Sunday afternoon.

There were two young children in the home. One of them called 911 after discovering their mother’s body, police added.

Detectives believe the suspect is the former boyfriend of the victim and father of their children who had been staying with him temporarily, according to the report. 

Investigators say Caggiano and the victim had an argument the night before and in the morning he and his vehicle were gone from the residence. 

Caggiano is believed to be driving a white 2017 Nissan Rogue SUV with Nevada license plate 69B230.
