Stray bullet kills innocent man near the Strat, police search for answers

News

Police are searching for clues in the murder of an innocent man who was shot and killed last night by a stray bullet. It happened Tuesday at 7:50 p.m. in the 200 block of West Charleston Avenue.

One woman who says she knew the victim, says that he was a nice guy who always said hello when she would see him coming and going from work. Investigators say the victim was taking his garbage out on West New York Avenue when a believed drug related shootout was taking place between three or four people, a street over.

Police say out of the nearly dozen gunshots, one of those bullets went down an alley and hit the victim.
Neighbor Michelle Grays says it is sad to hear about the loss of an innocent life and she is always extremely careful anytime she is walking around her own neighborhood. “It’s just a challenge walking through these areas over here. I’ve been over here for like 18 years, with the crime and everything that’s going on,” said Grays.

Police are asking anyone with any information to call Crimestoppers at 702-385-5555.
