Severe weather moves through Las Vegas valley


A severe thunderstorm warning was in effect Thursday until 2:45 p.m.  According to Chief Meteorologist Tedd Florendo, the storm was capable of producing heavy rains and 70 mph wind gusts.

A picture sent to 8 News NOW by viewer and former employee Adam Candee, strong winds uprooted and toppled a tree on Desert Shadow near Twitchell and Vanderburg Elementary Schools.

The National Weather Service issued the warning for Central Clark County in southern Nevada and northwestern Mohave County in northwestern Arizona.

Areas of Clark County impacted by the storm include:

  • North Las Vegas
  • Boulder City
  • Anthem
  • Nellis Air Force Base
  • Las Vegas Motor Speedway
  • East Las Vegas
  • Green Valley
  • Las Vegas Bay
  • Sam Boyd Stadium
  • Lake Las Vegas
  • Paradise
  • Seven Hills
  • Boulder Beach
  • Boulder Beach Campground
  • Callville Bay Campground
  • Silverado Ranch
  • Hoover Dam
  • Callville Bay
