As thousands of people travel to Las Vegas Memorial Day weekend, a new ride share option is available to cater to bigger groups of people for less money than a traditional Uber or Lyft.
The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) just rolled out “Trip to Strip” a few weeks ago.
“Most definitely,” tourist Carolyn Barrerra said of the option. “I’d try that.”
The bus system runs a lot like any other ride share company. Potential passengers just download the app, add the number in any party, then select a pick up and drop off point. After that, a shuttle will show up shortly.
“Anything that can get me from point A to point B quickly where I want to go for cheap,” tourist Doug Niemeyer added. “Can’t lose.”
However, the new option comes with extra perks. “Trip to Strip” does not have surge pricing and each bus can carry up to 11 people.
“We really value being able to save money and have more experiences,” Barrerra said. “And be able to get home as well if we can.” Even if it’s just like a couple dollars difference, we judge that a lot,” we just want to get home easily, the best way we can.”
The rides give everyone the opportunity to trade less cash for a more convenient way to see our beautiful city.
“If you’ve got big groups of people,” Niemeyer said. “I have my mom and my mother-in-law here so that would make it easier.”
