A Nevada sportsmen group is offering an additional $10,000 reward for information leading to a conviction in the case of eight mule deer that were killed and left to waste near Mount Charleston.
The Elko Daily Free Press reports the offer from Nevada Bighorns Unlimited comes after previous rewards from the Operation Game Thief program of $3,000 and a $5,000 reward from the Humane Society. The $18,000 total marks one of Nevada’s largest rewards ever offered to resolve a wildlife case.
The Nevada Department of Wildlife says the animals were shot and killed over a three-week span in September at several different sites. Game wardens believe all the shootings are related and they haven’t ruled out multiple shooters.
The rewards will be paid upon successful prosecution of the case.
