It was a big day for marijuana dispensaries in Henderson Friday. It was the first day for recreational marijuana sales.
Bianca MacIntosh says the convenience factor of being able to now buy recreational marijuana in Henderson is huge.
“There’s not as many people, she said. “Not having to wait as long, making more personal relationships,” she said.
The Source is one of five dispensaries in Henderson where you can buy recreational marijuana.
CEO Andrew Jolley says the process was slower in Henderson to get to this point but believes the industry will continue boom.
“There’s a lot of economic development that comes with this industry so tax revenue, jobs, business overall and I think it’s a right that people should have in this state,” Jolley said.
“It’s a long way to come from when we were in high school,” Daryl Smith said.
His curiosity drew him into the store.
“I think it’s good that it takes it off the street and makes it more of a science, I guess, and lets people enjoy it for medical purposes or whatever they need,” he said.
MacIntosh was among the first customers to buy recreational marijuana in Henderson and she says she will likely be a customer again.
Marijuana taxes are already expected to add $1 million to the city this fiscal year which goes through June 30.
