Several community mailboxes have been broken into in the south central part of the valley. The crimes are taking place at Beckingham Estates which is near Amigo Street and Windmill Lane.
Several neighbors say they check their mailboxes every day so they don’t believe anything valuable was stolen. One homeowner says he’s lived here since the neighborhood was built and it’s always been a quiet cul-de-sac. Jim Kaufman is a resident and says, “we take the mail out there in the morning. Then as soon as the mailman leaves, because of the way the house is situated, I can see when he’s coming and going pretty much. I go out and take the mail.”
The Postal Service says the best thing you can do to protect yourself from mail thieves is to get your mail regularly.
