Clark County School District hosted Principal for a Day today, and 8 News NOW anchor Brian Loftus participated, shadowing Principal Pamela Hays at Priest Elementary School.
The purpose was for the community to learn about the success and challenges in public education.
At Prince Elementary, Loftus learned of the focus on positive behaviors in school, working in a turnaround zone, and Principal Hays being a source of strength for students starting with the morning greeting and throughout the balance of the academic day.
A point of pride for Principal Hays, the 750 students at Priest ES, and their teachers is ten percent gains in ELA, and improving test scores in Math by seven percent.
After community members shadowed their Principal, they went to Texas Station to hear remarks from Superintendent Dr. Jesus Jara, and other Clark County School District leaders.
