Ever since they were found in a box truck last month in Sandy Valley, the community has been waiting for information on when those 164 Pomeranians will be adopted.
Well the process is underway.
The Las Vegas Golden Knight players were helping rescue dogs find new families Monday. The Knights teamed with The Animal Foundation to get some of the dogs adopted.
A few hundred animal lovers showed up at the City National Arena for the chance to adopt one of the rescued Pomeranians.
“I really like the black and gold for the Vegas Golden Knights. Go knights and I’ll probably keep her name, Knighty, just because it suits her,” said animal lover Debbie Hottensen.
She was one of the lucky 10 people to win a chance to adopt one of the Pomeranians. For her, it means giving another rescue dog a home.
“Both of the dogs I’ve adopted had owners that weren’t so nice to them so just taking them and bringing them into your home and getting them to trust you and giving them love every animal needs and deserves,” Hottensen said.
Other dog lovers were also thinking about how some of these furry friends could fit in to family.
“We have a few dogs at home right now and this dog would really fit in with the dog that we have,” said Sarah Finley. “They’re little too. So, we’d have three little cute ones.”
Fifteen Pomeranians found new owners. The rest of the dogs are still available.
The Animal Foundation is creating an online promotion for people to check out the Poms and try to win an opportunity to adopt them with proceeds supporting the non-profit, an organization Hottensen is happy to keep supporting.
“We we’re coming down to The Animal Foundation to make a donation anyway so the fact that we wound up with a puppy is just a bonus,” she said.
