Police say 80-year-old man hit by car overnight ignored red light


Police say 80-year-old pedestrian Khalil Elshadhed suffered serious injuries as a result of a crash that occurred at 1:09 a.m. on Oct. 4. 

Preliminary information says the crash occurred when Elshadhed attempted to cross the street against a red light at the intersection of South Boulder Highway and East Flamingo Road. He was hit by a Toyota Camry driving northbound. 

Elshadhed was transported to Sunrise Hospital by Emergency Medical Services with serious injuries. 

The driver and all passengers remained at the scene of the crash to speak with responding officers.
