Police officer accused of raping wife’s best friend, report says

A Metro police officer facing a sexual assault charge is accused of raping his wife’s best friend, according to his arrest report.

Officer Manuel Gutierrez was arrested on June 9.

The victim, was visiting from out of state and staying at the Gutierrez home. She visited Las Vegas to see the couple’s baby, the report said.

The woman told police, after a night of drinking, she awoke to find Gutierrez on top of her and began screaming at him and yelling for his wife. Gutierrez told the police, the act was consensual. 

Gutierrez’s wife waited with the woman while she called for an UBER driver to take her to a nearby hospital where she contacted police.

Gutierrez has been with Metro Police since Feb. 2014. He was assigned to the Community Policing Division’s South Central Area Command at the time of his arrest.  

His bail was set at $25,000 and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 30.

Gutierrez is relieved of duty without pay.
