Police investigate string of violent crimes

Metro police are investigating a string of violent overnight crimes.

The first happened at about 11:00 p.m. on the 3900 block of Erva Street. Police say two armed men kicked in the door of a home and attacked a man and woman inside.

Police say the suspects then sexually assaulted the woman, and left the house with about $300 in cash and jewelry.

The second crime happened in the 4700 block of Cleopatra Avenue. Police say an unknown number of suspects shot into an apartment while 11 people were inside. A 55-year-old man was hit in the back. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

The third violent crime involved a 35-year-old man shot in the abdomen. Police do not have a lot of information on this investigation, but they do say the victim was attacked by someone driving in a white Chrysler. The victim is also expected to survive.
