Police increase security for EDC weekend

News

Hundreds of thousands of people are packing into the Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend for the annual Electric Daisy Carnival.

The festival run from dawn to dusk for three nights, and officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department will be working around the clock to keep everyone safe.

Like any other year, there will be heightened security.

“The additional officers are going to be officers that are on overtime capacity and so we’re going to have plenty of officers that are going to be available,” said Officer Jay Rivera, LVMPD.

Traffic will also be a big issue in the area. Hollywood Boulevard and the Speedway exit on I-15 will be jam-packed.

Also, expect delays on Las Vegas Boulevard, as people may take that route to get to the festival.

While there will be no closures on I-15 this weekend, NDOT is closing US-95 at the Spaghetti Bowl for Project Neon through May 21st.
