LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Photos show a vehicle was sent crashing through a wall around 6:22 a.m. near the intersection of N. El Capitan Way and Racel Street.
“I knew as soon as I saw that helicopter; I knew where he was,” said Michah Kidd.
Kidd has lived in this northwest valley neighborhood for more than a decade. He says he’s seen his fair share of crashes, particularly at one intersection.
The crash at El Capitan Way and Racel sent a car through a wall and into one resident’s backyard Friday.
“There are always wrecks, and sure enough I’m like there’s another one,” Kidd said. “The amazing thing is it wasn’t that long ago that the guy just fixed the wall. Literally just fixed the wall from another accident.”
Across El Capitan way, just yards away from the debris left behind Friday morning, there was the aftermath of another crash from two weeks ago.
“I’ve seen one time, three wrecks at the same intersection in the same day,” said Kidd.
According to the Metro Police Department, the intersection in the residential area has seen 26 crashes since 2017, including some with injuries and hit and run.
The City of Las Vegas was unable to comment on a possible traffic study of the area at this time, but we may hear more on Monday.
“There’s a school just up the street here, and there’s another one up here,” Kidd said.
For residents like Kidd, the boards and debris are a glaring reminder that the area needs work, and soon.
“I think they’re gonna have to put lights here,” Kidd said. “Definitely here we need a light. I’m not an expert at that type of thing, but there’s something not right at this intersection.
