Photo released of female teacher arrested on 5 charges

Metro Police have released a photo of the math teacher who was arrested at West Career and Technical Academy Friday.

Renee Rine, 36, is facing five charges related to inappropriate contact with a male student, according to Clark County Detention Center records.

She is accused of attempted kidnapping, lewdness with a minor, child abuse, sexual misconduct and unlawful contact with a minor.

The incidents started during the 2015-2016 school year, according to CCSD Police Capt. Ken Young. Rine was charged with attempted kidnapping for trying to lure the 17-year-old to a hotel.

Rine was arrested after students reported seeing sexually explicit photos and texts on the student’s cell phone, Young said.

Rine was booked into the Clark County Detention Center. Her employment status with the district will be considered as “assigned to home,” once she is released from incarceration and pending the outcome of the criminal case.

Rine was hired by the district in Aug. 2015.

This is the fifth arrest of the 2017 – 2018 school year of a staff member for sexual misconduct.
