An alleged cat killer is on the loose in the Las Vegas valley. According to Christiane Hayashi, someone trespassed on her property and murdered her best friend.
It happened in the northern part of the valley near the intersection of Craig Road and Cimarron Road.
Hayashi spoke exclusively to 8 News NOW.
“This is the one where he’s patiently waiting for breakfast while I make coffee,” Hayshi said as she showed pictures of her beloved pet. “I started taking pictures of him because I knew he was getting older and I knew there was a time where he wasn’t going to be around.”
But she never thought her pet, simply named ‘Kitty,’ would be gone so soon.
“I miss him very much,” Hayashi said.
It’s been exactly one week since Hayashi was affected by the senseless act.
“I went outside, and I found him dead in my driveway
It was a very cold night and he was still warm,” Hayashi said.
According to Hayashi, her initial thought was that a coyote attacked Kitty. However, when she got closer, she saw the clear signs, which was an entry wound in his ear. The bullet had exited out of his neck.
“You can see the blood splatters from being shot, and you can see the blood from where he struggled and died,” said Hayashi. “Unfortunately, it was not instantaneous.”
Hayashi’s sadness over what had happened to her pet debilitated her.
“The next day I could barely move. I was so depressed,” Hayashi said.
Hayashi doing everything she can to bring justice to her dead cat. She’s put out a reward for anyone with information. In the meantime, she’s taking safety matters into her own hands.
“I can promise you that not only will there be security cameras installed, but where I used to sleep next to a cat, I now sleep next to a gun,” Hayashi said. “It’s not about revenge for a cat it’s because there’s someone in my neighborhood who is dangerous.”
Hayashi is offering a $1,000 reward for any information that can lead police to the culprit. Anyone with any information is urged to contact the Metro Police Department.
