A man is dead after driving into a lake in the northwest valley early Thursday morning, police said.
The crash occurred just before 1:00 a.m. in the area of Cheyenne Avenue and Rampart Boulevard.
Rescuers pulled the red 2000 Ford Mustang from the man-made lake and rushed the driver to the hospital where he died, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Authorities believe impairment was a factor in the incident. The driver was the only person in the car at the time of the crash.
Investigators with the Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the man once his family is notified.
This is the 6th traffic-related fatality of LVMPD’s jurisdiction of 2018.
