Metro Police have identified the officers in the October 12 officer involved shooting that occurred on the North 215 beltway between Hualapai Way and North Fort Apache Road.
The four are Officer John Squeo, Officer Christopher Gowens, Officer Travis Swartz, and Officer Erik Lindberg. Officer Squeo is 25 years of age and has been employed with the LVMPD since March, 2014.
Officer Gowens is 39 years of age and has been employed with the LVMPD since March, 2014.
Officer Swartz is 30 years of age and has been employed with the LVMPD since February, 2008.
Officer Lindberg is 33 years of age and has been employed with the LVMPD since February, 2014.
All officers are currently assigned to Metro’s Tourist Safety Division, Downtown Area Command, and have been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of this event.
The officers were investigating a vehicle stop where the driver was possibly involved in a serious of robberies.
After a short time, a pursuit occurred through many miles and jurisdictions around the valley.
The pursuit finally ended on the 215 beltway between Durango Road and Hualapai Way where suspect Rex Vance Wilson was armed with a handgun.
Officers fired, striking the suspect who was pronounced deceased at the scene
