Access to proper healthcare is a basic need, but some areas of the valley have been deprived of that luxury — until now.
A new hospital is expected to open in North Las Vegas. The future Saint Rose Dominican Hospital will be located at the intersection of Craig Road and Camino Al Norte.
“As a resident here for years, I’m excited about it 38:31
Wilma Debouse,” Jeff Alpert, North Las Vegas resident.
“It’s about time, it’s about time; I’ve been waiting,” said Dana McReynolds. “It will make a difference in my selection of health care providers next year.”
Currently, the three hospitals in close distance to the North Las Vegas area are in Mountain View, Centennial Hills, and North Vista, but the hospitals still aren’t that close for residents in North Las Vegas. They’re roughly 20 minutes away depending on traffic.
The new Dignity Health Saint Rose Dominican campus in North Las Vegas will feature three levels: The first level will have an emergency department with 12 overnight beds, and in patient wing plus imaging and lab services.
The other floors will have community outreach programs plus things like primary care and women’s care. Saint Rose Health Officials are excited to offer quality health care to a much-needed area.
“The folks that rate emergency medicine access, not the quality, but the access, were a D or an F, and clearly we’ve got pockets of the community, said Brian Brannman, Sr. VP NV Market, Dignity Health, President, Saint Rose Sienna Campus. “Just as we have food deserts when we need supermarkets, we’ve got healthcare deserts.”
The new hospital will also bring 100 permanent jobs. North Las Vegas Mayor John Lee says this is the city’s primetime for expansion.
“This is really the only place in the valley that has the opportunity to grow at such a pace that it is,” Lee said. “The opportunity for health care unlike any other in the area.”
“I like this hospital, and I’m very excited to have one this close to me,” said Dana McReynolds.
