Several bills are getting their first hearing Thursday in the legislature.
Senate Bill 368 would eliminate the statute of limiations for criminal or civil sexual assault cases. Currenlty, it’s 20 years.
The new law would also give more power to victims on the status of rape kits.
And a bill being pushed my Democratic Assembly Speaker Jason Frierson would automatically restore voting rights to felons as soon as they are out of prison.
Frierson says about 4 percent of Nevadans were not allowed to vote in 2016 because of previous convictions.
The legislature will hold a hearing Thursday evening on two bills that would grant collective bargaining rights to state employees. It would also allow them to form unions.
It would apply to about 22,000 executive branch employees. This has been a top goal of Democrats this session.
