Nevada hopes opioid disposal kits will help curb opioid addiction


The number of overdose deaths related to opioids in Nevada is nearly twice the national average.  When you do the math, more than 550 people died in 2010 from overdosing on prescription opioids, including medications like Oxycontin, Vicodin, and Percocet.

The year 2010 is the same year Governor Brian Sandoval, R-NV, took office and since then his administration and others have focused on fighting the epidemic a priority.

The question of what to do about prescription drug overdoses in the state lingers, but some solutions are coming to the forefront.

8 News NOW Reporter Patrick Walker has the details on how Roseman University in Henderson is helping with that effort.
