Metro Police: MS-13 gang committed 10 murders in Clark County over past year

Sheriff Joe Lombardo and Captain Robert Plummer of the LVMPD Homicide Sex Crimes Bureau held a news conference Monday at 1 p.m. to discuss the details of 10 murders commmitted in Clark County by MS-13 over the last year.

The LVMPD with the assistance of the FBI, the U.S. Attorney’s office, along with law enforcement in Los Angeles and Fresno worked together to investigate the crimes that have plagued all three communities.

“The suspects involved in these crimes are extremely violent,” said Sheriff Joe Lombardo. “They kill their victims over as little as identifying with another gang or participating in street level narcotic sales.”

According to Metro Police, all of the victims were either shot or stabbed numerous times. The latest suspect was arrested less than a week ago.

“This gang came into our radar three months ago when we had, one and then two murders in close proximity with many similarities,” said Captain Robert Plummer, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Captain Plummer also said said Metro was able to locate at least one body and other evidence to take suspects into custody.

In January 2018, LVMPD search and rescue officers were in the area of Frenchman Mountain, when they came upon the body of Carlos Pachaca-Rodriguez, who had been shot and stabbed multiple times.  Pachaca-Rodriguez was a former MS-13 gang member.

A few days later, another man named Arquimidez Sandoval-Martinez was partying with friends at a club downtown. He went outside, and was never seen again.

Two weeks later his body was discovered by a Division of Forestry officer near Lake Mead and State Route 147. He had been shot and stabbed multiple times, Metro said.

During the investigation, Metro homicide detectives discovered that both victims knew each other and were a part of MS-13.

On Friday, March 7, detectives took the suspects in custody as they were driving south on Jones Boulevard.  According to Metro, the suspects were en route to commit another murder when they were captured.

At least six of the 10 victims were kidnaped before they were killed and their bodies were dumped in the mountain area.  Some of the victims claimed affiliation with other Mexican gangs.

One of the victims, Richard Guadido was killed on Dec. 31, 2017 while standing in his driveway. A car pulled up and shot him to death.

Another victim, Daniel Clark was murdered March 3, 2017. According to Metro Police, the gun that killed Clark and Guadido was matched through forensic evidence.

The complete list of victims is below:

“Our investigation this far has recovered 18 firearms, which include AR-15, semi-automatic pistols and shotguns,” Capt. Plummer said. “Eight of those guns were stolen in Metro’s jurisdiction; one in Henderson.”

The four suspects are being held on federal immigration charges. There is also one juvenile in custody. He’s said to be 17.

The suspects face the following charges:

  • Kidnapping
  • Assault with intent to commit murder
  • First-degree murder
  • Use of a firearm resulting in death
  • Crimes occurring on federal land.

Three of the suspects are from El Salvador and one is from Honduras.
