Metro police met with community members Monday night to search for answers in a recent homicide.
Sixteen-year-old Justice Allen was shot and killed Friday night. Police say patrol officers were dispatched to the area of Dramatic Way and Grand Sierra to investigate a shooting at approximately 9:53 p.m.
According to investigators, a group of young adults and teens were walking on the street and saw a car following them.
“At some point, two unidentified suspects got out of the vehicle and began to shoot down the street striking the two victims,” police said in a release. “The vehicle then fled from the area and was not located.”
No arrests have been made.
A 19-year-old male was also shot and transported to University Medical Center Trauma in critical condition. Police say the shooting may have been gang related.
Through R.E.C.A.P. (Rebuilding Every Community Around Peace), police met with residents to address some of their concerns.
“Its been outstanding. A lot of these community members have already said to me ‘Hey, I wish we would’ve done this a long time ago.’ It’s too bad a tragedy had to occur to bring the community together,” said Lt. Rick Given.
The goal of R.E.C.A.P. is to not only bring the community together, but to prevent retaliation as well.
Lt. Given said several neighbors came forward Monday night with surveillance footage and new information.
