A Metro Police officer faces multiple charges including felony DUI with substantial bodily harm.
Nevada Highway Patrol arrested Antonio Munoz over the weekend. According to NHP, it all unfolded shortly after midnight Saturday morning when a trooper noticed Munoz driving a white GMC Yukon on the shoulder of I-15 northbound near the Charleston Boulevard off ramp.
NHP said Munoz also failed to obey a stop sign and a traffic signal, so the trooper pulled him over near the outlet malls. As soon as the trooper came in contact with Munoz, he suspected that he may have been driving under the influence.
NHP said the trooper also noticed the truck showed signs of damage. After investigating further, it was determined that Munoz’s truck was involved in three accidents on I-15 northbound between Sahara Avenue and Charleston Boulevard.
The first accident involved a red Buick. NHP said the driver was taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries.
According to NHP, the second vehicle hit by Munoz’s truck was a Silver Accura, but thankfully, no one was hurt.
The third vehicle Munoz hit was a black KIA, NHP said. The driver of that car sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Munoz was also taken to UMC for treatment before he was booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
