Metro Police will held a news conference Thursday to discuss additional details about the officer-involved shooting that occurred on Feb. 6 in the 3300 block of Lingo Street near N. Grand Canyon Drive and W. Cheyenne Avenue.

Metro said just after 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, police received a call from family members about a relative who was drinking and suicidal. When officers arrived at the scene, Alan Keith Baker walked out of the home and pointed a gun at officers.

They gave him verbal commands, but he did not listen, so officers shot twice. A third shot was heard as the Baker fled back into the home.

Baker was found in the home suffering from a gunshot wound.  According to Metro Police, the Baker shot himself. Baker was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

There weren’t any officers hurt during the shooting.

Officer Marcus Martin, 58, was placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of this incident. He’s been with the police force since August 1995.
