Las Vegas police say that a pedestrian has died after being hit by an SUV on Oct. 16. The crash occurred on West Tropicana Avenue just east of Duneville Street, near Jones Boulevard.

At 7:56 p.m. that night, a silver 2011 Ford Escape was traveling west on Tropicana Avenue in the middle of three westbound travel lanes when a male pedestrian was attempting cross the street outside of any marked or implied crosswalk. He entered the path of the SUV and was struck by the front the SUV, knocking him to the roadway.

The man sustained significant injuries and was transported to UMC Trauma for further medical intervention, but succumbed to his injuries. Impairment is believed to be a factor for the pedestrian in this collision, but not for the SUV driver. The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment.
