Man arrested in California for shooting, killing woman in Las Vegas

A man accused of shooting and killing a woman in January was arrested Wednesday for the homicide.  Metro Police says it was able to track down 41-year-old Frederick Daniels in Anaheim, California.

Metro said on Jan. 23 police were dispatched to an apartment complex in the 3800 block of South Nellis Boulevard to investigate reports of shots fired.  When officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman shot to death inside one of the apartments.

The investigation initiated by the LVMPD Homicide Section indicated the victim, whose identity hasn’t been released, was visiting a friend who lived in the apartment.  However, shortly after the victim arrived, she and Daniels, who also lived in the apartment got into an argument.

The woman who lived in the apartment with Daniels told officers she was in the other room when she heard gunshots ring out.  The woman said when she ran back into the room she found her friend lying on the floor, and Daniels was leaving the apartment.

Detectives figured out that Daniels may have fled to the
Anaheim, California area. The Las Vegas Criminal Apprehension Team contacted the California Fugitive Task Force, along with the Anaheim County Sheriff’s Office for assistance in finding the suspect.

At about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Daniels was arrested on Metro’s warrant for murder with a deadly weapon.  He is being held in Santa Ana California while he awaits extradition to Las Vegas.
