PAHRUMP (KLAS) — Nye County deputies are asking for help locating three men accused of digging for gold, silvers, and precious metals that are rumored to be buried on Ted Binion’s Pahrump grounds.

A surveillance video released on the Nye County Sheriff’s Office page shows three men, one who has been identified as ex-employee 56-year-old Richard Cleaves, using shovels to dig holes around the property.

Cleaves had been arrested in Jan. 2017 for digging holes on the property after reading an online article stating that millions of dollars worth of gold were buried on the land, the NCSO said.

The article and tall tales may have some merit. The NCSO found roughly $5 million worth of silver on Binion’s property in 1998.

Still, digging on private property is illegal and the three men seen in the video ran afoul of the law. The NCSO is asking for anyone with information on the identity of the two men accompanying Cleaves to come forward.
