Hundreds gathered at the Mirage on the Las Vegas Strip to welcome wounded, ill, and injured veterans for the 6th annual Salute To the Troops.
The unique event that honors community heroes kicked off Friday and will run through Tuesday.
Many vets 8 News NOW spoke with talked about how special it was to receive such a warm welcome.
“It’s absolutely wonderful; I mean when we got to the airport to right now, and it’s four and a half more days, and I know it’s going to be awesome,” said Christopher Chavez, retired 1st Sergeant, U.S. Army.
The Salute To the Troops is hosted by the USO and MGM Resorts. They say it’s just an amazing opportunity to honor those who have served our country.
