On Monday, the 1-year anniversary of the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history, 8 News NOW dedicated the day to coverage of events remembering and honoring the victims killed on that fateful night.
Over the past year, the Las Vegas valley has walked through a journey of hope and healing. Join 8 News NOW as we take the next step together when we air a one-hour Community Pride special, “Vegas Stronger: Hope and Healing.”
The special is dedicated to the stories of hope and healing that emerged in the days and weeks after the attack.
Special Web Section: VegasStronger: Timeline, stories and videos
At 10:01 p.m. we showed live tower cameras from different areas of the Strip as properties made their marquees dark in solidarity of remembering that day. Then at 10:05 p.m., 8 News NOW took viewers live to the Healing Garden for a collective moment of silence before the names of the 58 victims were read out loud, a bell was chimed and a candle was lit.
During the special, 8 News NOW sat down with survivors and heard their stories of resiliency and triumph in the face of tragedy. Our reporters also talked to the first responders who worked hard that night to do everything they could to save lives.
We’ve gone from #VegasStrong to #VegasStonger!
