LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Metro Police are assisting US Marshals with the investigation of an officer-involved shooting off the Las Vegas Strip. According to the Marshals, the fugitive suspect was tracked from Washington State to Nevada.

Gary Schofield, the US Marshal for the District of Nevada, noted the suspect is wanted out of Washington on possession of firearms and drug offenses. He also noted the suspect has an extensive violent history.

The shooting occurred at Viridian Apartments in the 4200 block of West Viking near Flamingo and Arville.

As US Marshal deputies approached the suspect, he tried to flee, ramming several vehicles, and deputies opened fire, said Schofield. Multiple shots were fired.

Deputies rendered aid to the suspect on-scene, and he was transported to UMC, according to authorities.

The names of the deputies will not be released until some time has passed, per Department of Justice policy. Schofield did not reveal the suspect’s name either, stating the next of kin must be notified first.

No deputies were injured.
