UPDATE: NHP involved in shooting on Mount Charleston

Local News

A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper exchanged gunfire with a man on Mount Charleston Tuesday afternoon.

According to Jason Buratczuk, NHP received a call around 1 p.m. reporting a suicidal person. The 23-year-old man was located in the Echo Trail area off of SR 157 and ordered to get out of his vehicle.

Buratczuk said the man exited the car with a shotgun and fired off one round. The trooper returned fire shooting the man.

NHP says the man’s injury is not life threatening and no troopers were injured. SR 157 is closed in that area and will be until 8 or 9 p.m. Residents are being allowed through.
