State Route 157 has reopened to traffic after being closed for more than an hour for snow removal.
It’s the only road to Lee Canyon on Mount Charleston and was closed near State Route 158 Monday around 12: 30 p.m.
The closure caused major traffic delays on the mountain.
“Safety first and they closed the road and that’s a good thing even though we’re not going to be able to go up there,” said Pedro Celis, motorist.
Metro Police, the Nevada Highway Patrol, and the Nevada Department of Transportation teamed up to remove the snow and monitor traffic on the mountain.
Visitors say it’s a good reminder to be prepared when visiting the mountain.
“If anybody is planning to come to Mount Charleston or this way, just make sure that you take allthe precautions that you need to stay safe,” Celis said.
