A security guard was shot and killed in an apartment complex Monday night, and the suspects are still on the loose, Metro said.

According to Metro Police, officers were called to the 5500 block of South Mountain Vista Street right before 10 p.m. to investigate a report of an unresponsive man who was found lying on the ground.

When officers arrived they discovered a 75-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound.  Officers tried to save his life untile medical personnel arrived at the scene and took over.

The victim was taken to Sunrise Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The investigation by the LVMPD Homicide Section indicated that the victim was an unarmed security officer assigned to patrol the apartment complex.

Detectives canvased the apartment complex and located several witnesses who heard gunshots 30 minutes before the guard’s body was discovered.

At this point, no suspect(s) have been identified, and the motive for the murder is unknown.
